Echocardiographic evaluation of a single bolus of erythropoietin effects on reducing ischemia-reperfusion injuries during coronary artery bypass graft surgery. A randomized, double blinded placebo control study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Erythropoietin (EPO) is known as a regulating hormone for production of red blood cells called Erythropoiesis. Some studies have shown that erythropoietin have some nonhematopoietic protective effects on ischemia-reperfusion injury in myocardial cells. We evaluated the effect of exogenous EPO infusion on reducing ischemia-reperfusion injuries and improvement of cardiac function by echocardiography shortly after coronary artery bypass graft surgery.

متن کاملErythropoietin protection effects against ischemia-reperfusion injuries during coronary artery bypass graft surgery: a randomized, double blinded, placebo control study
Background Although the rapid reperfusion by coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery has significant success and it can cause decrease in mortality and morbidity rate, but this reperfusion paradoxically can cause ionic and metabolic damage that lead to myocardial damage and myocytes death. We examined whether perioperative exogenous erythropoietin (EPO) can reduce myocardial damage by reduc...

Abstract Background and purpose: Recent studies showed that erythropoietin (EPO) despite having role in hematopoiesis, has non-hematopoietic tissue protective effects on ischemia-reperfusion injury. In this study we evaluated the effects of erythropoietin on reducing ischemia-reperfusion injuries after coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG). Materials and methods: 60 patients that was ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Remote Ischemic Preconditioning on the Incidence of Acute Kidney Injury in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Background: Remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) protects other organs from subsequent lethal ischemic injury, but uncertainty remains. We investigated if RIPC could prevent acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Methods: This parallel-group, double-blind, randomized, controlled trial was done on adults undergoing elective or urgent on-pum...
